Onboarding, proportionate to risk.
Business verification, ultimate beneficial ownership, document collection and sanctions, PEP and adverse-media screening, applied in proportion to the risk of the applicant and documented throughout.
This is our compliance process, not a product we sell you
Flowa Pay does not sell KYC or KYB as a standalone regulated verification service. What this page describes is how we and our partners onboard merchants: what we verify, what we screen, what we ask for and why. It matters to you because it determines how quickly you go live and what will be asked of you.
From request to reconciled
Apply
You submit the business, its activity, its corporate structure and the markets and currencies you intend to process in.
Verify the business
Legal entity, registration, registered address, trading name and activity are verified against registry and documentary evidence.
Identify the people
Directors and ultimate beneficial owners are identified and verified, and the ownership chain is documented up to the natural persons who own or control the business.
Screen
The business and its associated individuals are screened against sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse-media sources.
Review and decide
A risk-based review considers category, jurisdiction, structure, model and expected volume. The outcome is approval, approval with conditions, a request for more information, or decline.
Monitor
Approved merchants are subject to ongoing monitoring and periodic review appropriate to their risk rating.
What merchant onboarding covers
KYC
Identity verification of the individuals associated with the business, including directors and authorised signatories.
KYB
Verification of the legal entity: registration, status, registered address, trading name and stated activity.
UBO verification
The ownership chain is traced and documented to the natural persons who ultimately own or control the business.
Business verification
The stated business model is checked against the live website, the products sold and the way customers are charged.
Document collection
Incorporation documents, ownership evidence, identity documents, financial information and processing history as applicable to the risk.
Risk-based onboarding
The depth of diligence is proportionate to risk. A low-risk applicant is not put through enhanced diligence for its own sake.
AML screening
Screening is performed as part of the anti-money-laundering obligations that apply to us and to our partners.
Sanctions screening
The business and its associated individuals are screened against applicable sanctions sources at onboarding and thereafter.
PEP screening
Politically exposed person status is identified and handled under the applicable policy rather than treated as an automatic decline.
Merchant review
A documented decision with a recorded rationale, so the basis for approval or decline is auditable.
Ongoing monitoring
Periodic review and event-driven re-screening appropriate to the merchant's risk rating.
Why teams choose it
- Know what to expect. The documents and the sequence are set out in advance, which is what makes onboarding fast.
- Proportionate, not performative. Diligence depth follows risk, so low-risk applicants are not delayed unnecessarily.
- Defensible decisions. Every decision is documented with its rationale and evidence.
How you connect
- Applications are submitted and progressed through the onboarding process with a named contact.
- Document requests are itemised up front rather than drip-fed.
- Approval conditions, where any apply, are stated explicitly.
What you can accept
- Applies to all merchants before any processing begins
Availability depends on merchant category, jurisdiction, underwriting and the applicable payment or acquiring partner.
How it is controlled
- Onboarding data is handled under the privacy policy and retained in line with record-keeping obligations.
- Screening and verification support the obligations that apply to Flowa Pay and its partners.
- FLOWA PAY INC. is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business, registration number C100000902. A registration is not a licence, approval or endorsement.
Flowa Pay provides the payment technology and orchestration layer. Acquiring, scheme settlement and regulated payment services are provided by licensed acquiring and payment partners under their own authorisations.
Common questions
No. This describes our own merchant onboarding and compliance process. We do not offer standalone regulated identity or business verification as a product.
It depends on the completeness of the application and the risk profile of the business. A complete application with clear ownership moves considerably faster than one where the structure has to be unpicked.
Because the obligations that apply to us and our partners require the natural persons who ultimately own or control a business to be identified and verified.
No. It means enhanced scrutiny and a documented decision under the applicable policy. It is not an automatic decline.
Merchants are subject to ongoing monitoring and periodic review proportionate to their risk rating, with event-driven re-screening.
